KITCHEN K TO CLOSE AND REOPEN AS NEW RESTAURANT & EVENT SPACE
Owner Pablo Weiss has plans for a healthy bistro and hip event venue
ST. LOUIS, December 19, 2009 – After six years in business, veteran St. Louis restaurateur Pablo Weiss today announced his plans to close Kitchen K and reopen a new concept restaurant and event space in its same location in the historic Merchandise Mart building at the corner of 10th Street and Washington Avenue downtown. Kitchen K, one of the first restaurants to drive the rejuvenation of the now thriving Washington Avenue entertainment district will shut its doors on January 1, 2010. After an extensive renovation, Weiss will reopen in early 2010 as a separate restaurant called The Pacific Grille and a hip new event space, The California Room. Pacific Grille will feature fresh California cuisine at a similar price point to Kitchen K and will be open for lunch only.
“I’m truly exited to bring the next new restaurant concept to downtown St. Louis,” said Weiss. “I want to thank all of the loyal patrons of Kitchen K over the years. We have had a great time, but I feel that the concept has run its course and it’s time for something new and refreshing on Washington Avenue.”
Weiss is no stranger to bringing hot dining and nightlife to the downtown St. Louis scene. Before opening Kitchen K in 2003, he operated the Hot Locust Cantina and popular nightclubs The Side Door, Pablo’s, Rocket Bar and Nectar.
The Pacific Grille will be housed in the space currently known as the K Bar, while Kitchen K’s main dining room will become the new California Room event space, which will hold up to 200 people for private functions.
